Children's Mental Health Week
The uncertainty and chaos of the pandemic means children have had to deal with more emotional stress than ever before. They have also lost out on precious time with friends and family and the comfort of a regular school routine.
Latest research figures from the NHS show that there are now around five children in every classroom developing a mental health problem, with many more struggling with challenges ranging from bullying to bereavement.Research also sadly reveals that 80% of children and young people said that the pandemic had worsened their mental health considerably.
At Samten, we believe that it is easier to build strong children, than repair broken adults. Giving children the tools to be in control of their own mental and physical health is key to the survival of future generations, which is one of the reasons why Samten Junior is a FREE section of the app and always will be.To support schools during Children's Mental Health Week, we are offering a free resource to help teachers introduce the benefits of meditation and mindfulness into the classroom.
Samten Junior follows the same principles as the main app - we teach you the how so that you can benefit from the why - but it is a section of the app completely dedicated to young people and children.
As with adults, the aim of Samten Junior is to become a trusted friend. A source of help; easily accessible; a pocket friend to help children deal with the increasing stresses of daily modern life.
Introducing Samten from an early age is integral to the future of children’s lives.
In support of Children's Mental Health Week, we've created a fun PDF for use in the classroom. Click here to download the PDF now.
Inside you will find:
- Great conversation starters around Mental Health - Activities to encourage children to talk about feelings - Activities to encourage positive self-talk and love - Mindfulness colouring sheet - Mini meditation
As the Dalia Lama said, “If every eight-year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.”
At Samten we hope that one day this will be our world.
